To all of you who answered my question about high school hockey, thank-you.

It has been really useful to know that the bench is the place for
most of the the younger players. There is a difference between the
unwritten rules of club vs. high school, boys vs. girls, and you
hate to look like the village idiot, or worse, make your kid look
like a coddled baby, by stepping over the bounds. My daughter does
have her head on straight about these things, even if she doesn't
always like it. Where in previous years she would jump at the chance
of a second game in one day, now, if it means sitting on the bench,
she will bow out.

Last night's game was a riot. When the score went 6-3 for us at
about 8 minutes into the 3rd period, the coach benched his first line
and sent out the bench warmers. Those kids were so hungry, they
added another 2 goals before the final buzzer. There were about a
dozen girls from the opposing team's school who went wild when they
realized Jess was a girl. They kept screaming "Send out the chick."
After, the coach asked her is she would play in their tournament.
All around, a good day.

I am wondering. Did Canadian hockey programs teach enough skills to players
or are they focusing too much on other aspects of the game? Just read an
article in the newspaper saying that European players have better skills
development than Canadian players.

I live in upstate NY and I am looking for a Christian hockey stick. No place
in out area sells them anymore and as a poor college student, I can't afford
to buy a dozen directly from the company. Does anyone konw of any place on
line that sells Chrisitan sticks?? Specifically, Team USA--medium
flex--Pittsburg or Christian Curve (right)???

Also, can anyone recomend a good stick (either an intermediate or senior) that
has a nice medium flex b/c they too are hard to find in my area and my game
has been suffering b/c I can't get off good shots. I've tried bauer, hespler,
montreal, and sherwood, but I can't seem to find a stick that fits better in
my hands, I can flex easily, but I'm afraid that I'm not going to be getting
them anymore.

Thanks

Thanks to all of you who responded to my roller/ice hockey transition
question.

Tuesday I went to skate for my first time every in a basic II (classes go
from basic I to basic VI in skating) ice skating class. I had a pair of beat
up,dull-bladed size seven hockey skates.(I actually find out that night when
i got fitted for my ccm tacks 452's that i wear size 5 and a 1/2!!) I was
out skating, and my dad was standing outside the rink talking to the man who
operates the zamboni.. the Zamboni guy told him that I was skating much
better than I should have been, so they moved me up to a hockey class. I
also bumped into my to-be playercoach and a to-be teammate that night when i
bought all of my equipment at the rink's pro-shop. On sunday, the
firebirds, the womens team i am going to be playing for in a week or so, has
a game at the local rink... I am going to watch and then get ready to
practice with them at the next one they have, which should be the 28th of
jan. There is a big game at the Philadelphia spectrum(where the flyers used
to play) on Sunday jan 21st which I might be able to play in. I'm real
excited about getting started .. I can't wait!

hi, is there a web page somewhere that explains how gear should fit and
which manufacturers supply women's gear?

i've found a bunch of retailers that sell the gear online, but i'm unsure
about the fit each provides.

for example, itech and bauer each have a women's shoulderpads, but i can't
tell if bauer would work for a medium-sized boob or what. ;) do
different brands work better for different body types?

thanks for any info. and sorry if i'm asking common-sense stuff --
couldn't find a faq for this list upon joining. :(

I just bought the CCM 4.3 edge womens pads and i'm a B in the chest. These
ccm pads are very comfortable and provide good support.. it feels like a
sports bra, You dont feel like youre going to fall or slide out of the chest
area when youre moving. Theyd probably accomodate up to a size C cup in the
Large CCM model and still feel comfortable.. C cup or above you might want to
try the XL. there are velco straps around the bustline that adjust them.
fogdog.com has some pairs left - so you might want to check there.
louisville specializes in womens hockey equipment so you may want to look
around for them. good luck

That shoulder pad is discontinued but we have an adult small and XL
remaining on closeout that we would like to move.

The previously mentioned gear is good, but don't forget about the women's
lines from Louisville, Itech and DR RAGE. I think all the female dedicated
gear is quality, but is very much personal preference as to what compliments
