To all Girl hockey players and coaches:
For any and all who might be interested, or become interested (or even become
very excited!), please reference www.nvo.com/suncityhockey for further
info...
Welcome! To the First-Ever, All-Girls, Inline Hockey Tournament in the
World...The World Challenge Cup!

Update: February 28, 2001

Here are the present details of this exciting event: We will update this page
daily as more details become available!
Who:
This inline hockey tournament is open to teams of all girl players. All
players must be born in years 1990, '91, '92, or '93. The age bracket is
therefore designated as "Squirt Division."
What:
Six teams will vie for this year's title. Tournament format will be
round-robin, with each team playing five games over the two days of the
tourney. Each game will be three periods, played 10-minutes, stop-time.
2-minute intermissions.
Games will be played on a Sportcourt(tm) surface surrounded by Border Patrol
Pro 5000(tm) dasher boards with tempered glass. Rink size is 92' by 56'.

Teams play 3 skaters and goalkeeper. Roster limits are maximum of ten players.
We note that 6 skaters and a goalkeeper is the ideal roster, and for
tournament purposes, having one of your skaters that can step in as the
alternate goalkeeper is a good idea.

USA Hockey sanction for this event is in progress. Play will be under USAHIL
Rule book, with modifications.

When:
August 11 and 12, 2001. Games will be played from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on
Saturday, 10:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Where:
Games will be played at The Nations-Tobin Municipal Inline Hockey Arena, 8831
Railroad Drive, in El Paso, Texas. You may access an information set elsewhere
in this internet site.
How:
It is the intent of the tournament organizers to secure a sponsorship package
that will greatly reduce air travel to and from El Paso. All ground transport
while in El Paso, all meals, from dinner Friday night to breakfast Monday
morning will be provided to teams and coaches. Teams and coaches will be
hosted (sleeping bags, please) at the homes of El Paso players and their
families.

We are striving to make this the most fun and exciting event that you have
ever attended. We hope to see you in August, in El Paso, Texas, out on the
blue floor.
Thanks! for any help you can give in forwarding this information to those who
might want to participate. We anticipate that teams of various girls might
want to start, develop and operate a program just because this tournament
gives them a place to start. Thanks, again...

Can anyone tell me of your team's successes with marketing YOUR team logo
merchandise on your websites to the public at large? Is it an effective way
to raise funds to support your program? Dying to know, my best,

Hi,
I have been asked to play goal in a roller hockey tourney in a few weeks. I
am an ice gal and have only been on blades once before in my basement where
there were poles I could grab before falling on my bottom. People have
assured me I will have no problems adjusting. They just aren't sure about
what type of wheels I should use. Some say indoor others say outside. Any
advice or pointers? How much of a beating will my pads take? I don't want to
purchase new pads for a maybe one time deal and I hope to replace them next
year anyway.

Any advice for the foolish will be appreciated,

Tanya, #35
