GOPHER SHOOTING GALLERY RESULTS IN 2-1 WIN

MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota was only able to get two of 49 shots past
Minnesota State, Mankato goalie Vogt, but it was enough for a 2-1 victory
over the Mavericks at All Seasons Arena.

Ronda Curtin gave the Gophers a 3-1 lead with two minutes, 40 seconds to
play in the opening period but could not find the back of the net until the
final period of play.

Leading by a goal and outshooting MSU, Mankato 38-12, the Gophers got off a
flurry of shots on the power play, resulting in Ambria Thomas' team-leading
sixth goal of the season at 7:31.

The Mavericks came back when Tristin Stephenson converted a rebound during a
5-on-3 power play with 6:58 left in the game.

The two teams finish their two-game series at 2:35 p.m. Saturday at the
Midwest Wireless Center.

Liz,

Are you in the Dayton, OH area?  I saw your email address and thought it 
might be the Dayton Bombers.  Any way,  I'm in Yellow Springs and participate 
in a Cincinnati women's ice hockey program.  The only thing I've found in 
Dayton are mixed teams: roller hockey in Fairborn and Xenia and ice hockey 
Huff-n-Puff and drop-in at Kettering Rec Center where sometimes women from 
Wright-Patt skate.

USA Hockey Wins Two Against Canadian Pro Team

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The 2000-01 United States Women's National Team swept
its two-game series against the Beatrice Aeros of the National Women's
Hockey League here on Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22.
On Saturday, Team USA overcame a 2-1 deficit in the second period,
scoring four goals in the third period to earn a 5-3 victory. Forward
Katie King (Salem, N.H.) registered the game-winner at 15:01 of the final
stanza. Defensemen Angela Ruggiero (Simi Valley, Calif.) and A.J. Mleczko
(Nantucket, Mass.) assisted on the play.
Goaltender Sarah Tueting (Winnetka, Ill.) turned aside nine shots to
record the victory. The U.S. outshot the Aeros, 36-12.
On Sunday, the U.S. again overcame a 2-1 deficit to skate away with the
4-2 victory. Trailing in the second period, defenseman Winny Brodt
(Roseville, Minn.) registered an unassisted goal at 17:23 to make the
score 2-2 heading into the third period. Forwards Tricia Dunn (Derry,
N.H.) and Cammi Granato (Downers Grove, Ill.) then lit the lamp at 8:23
and 10:30 of the third period, respectively, to secure the victory.
Goaltender Sara DeCosta (Warwick, R.I.) faced 26 shots in the winning
effort.
