Hi folks,

I just returned from a trip to the UK, and while watching Wimbledon
coverage the commentator said that Martina keeps in shape by playing
hockey (I think she said ice, but I'm not sure). Anyone know about
this? Just curious...

Subject: power skating

Hello,
If anyone is interested, I just completed Robby Glantz Power Skating camp,
and it was well worth the money. I was the oldest one in the clinic(pee wee
and up) and the only female. The instructors were great, and treated me as a
hockey player not an adult female. My skating improved right away, and I have
the knowledge of how to skate correctly which I can practice on my own. If
you have the opportunity, definately do it. There is a website that has camp
info.

I haven't seen anything about this in the media yet, but Softball Canada's
website says that they've already picked the team they're sending to the
Olympics. It includes Hayley Wickenheiser (Outfield) and Sommer West
(Utility). Ontario hockey fans will recognize Sommer's name as a member of
the Beatrice Aeros, who also has some national-team experience in hockey.

Martina DOES play ice hockey!! I was getting ready for a game about 1 or 2 months ago, and there was buzzing in the locker room that Martina was out there playing in a game! I did not see her play because I had to get ready for my own game.

I have a friend who plays on the team she was playing for that day who gave me a recap - Martina was jsut making a "guest appearance" while she was in town. She is an OK skater, and she is as tough as nails along the boards.

A teenage girl on the opposing team apparantly ran Martina into the boards (I'm not sure if she was knocked over). The ref went up to the kid and said "Do you realize that you just checked Martina Navratalova?" The kid's response was "Who?" ( Ahhhh to be young............ :-) )

Hope this helped!
