Hi, all.

I'm happy to announce that we now have a Chat system available on
hockeyfanz.com. After talking to a lot of you about your interests
and experiences, we've installed a system that we think will handle
things pretty well. You can access it from the main page of
, and it's available for the use of all
of our HockeyFanz members. If you want to set up a regular time for
people to get together to discuss a given topic, we've created a
place in the forums to advertises these talks (or to announce any
regular chats you're already having on other systems). The chat
system allows for multiple rooms, so there can be more than one group
using it as once, and also allows for private rooms. I'll be hanging
out in there whenever I can for those who want to drop in and try it
out, or for those who want to talk to me about Hockeyfanz.com...

Also, we've just installed a new version of the forum software. This
version uses a more secure password scheme, so if you've set your
browser to automatically log you in, you'll need to log in to reset
the password. New features in this release of the forums: the
description of the forum is now shown on the main forum page (this
can be turned off on the options page if you don't want it), you now
have the ability to hide discussions you don't care about so they no
longer show up on the page, and there's a new option called New Posts
that lets you see all of the new messages at once. It's also better
at tracking what you've read, and the edit box used for creating and
replying to messages is larger (and the size is configurable in your
options). See the Help option for more details on how to use these
features.

Finally -- to all of our users, we hope you've had a good holiday and
have a very happy and safe New Years. We hope the year 2000 was a
good year for you, and that 2001 will be even better. It's been an
interesting year all around, and a little chaotic for all of us as we
moved onto HockeyFanz and tried to get everything settled down, and
we appreciate your patience and feedback during the transition. We
have some fun stuff planned for 2001, and we're glad you're part of
the group we're heading into the future with. If you head out to
celebrate the new year, make sure you keep your head on a swivel and
your stick on the ice. Happy New Years to all of you, from Laurie and
myself.
