Wolf Ties All-Time Scoring Record at UMaine:
Junior Raffi Wolf (Voerde, Germany/Gesamtschule am Lauerhaas) tied
Alison Lorenz (UMaine 00) for first place on the UMaine all-time
scoring list this weekend with 75 career points. She registered an
unassisted goal in UMaines 4-1 win over Wayne State on Thursday night
to tie the record. Wolf has 51 goals and 24 assists in her career. Her
next point will give her the record, but she will not have a chance to
set the record for a while as the Black Bears have a 27 day layoff
before they host Yale on January 6, 2001 at 3 p.m.

Defense Posts Strong Weekend for Black Bears:
The Black Bears allowed just 22 shots on goal this weekend and one
goal. Maine outshot Wayne State 48-14 on Thursday, and followed that up
with a 46-8 advantage in shots on Saturday. Maine allowed just a single
shot on goal in the first period of the game on Thursday.

Third Period a Charm for Maine:
Maine has played extremely well in the third period this season,
outscoring its opponents 18-10 in the final frame. Last season, Maine
scored just 19 goals all season long in the third period, while
allowing opponents 34.

A Weekend Sweep for the Black Bears:
The Black Bears recorded a weekend sweep of Wayne State as they beat
the Warriors 4-1 on Thursday, and followed that up with a 4-0 shutout
on Saturday. Thursday, Maine jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first period
goals by Meagan Aarts (Watford, Ontario/Bluewater Hawks) and Wolf. The
Warriors cut the lead to 2-1 with the lone goal of the second period,
but Maine added two third period tallies by Cindy Biron (Lewiston,
Maine/New Hampton Prep) and Karen Droog (Listowel, Ontario/Peel Storm)
to ice the game. Saturday, the two teams played 32:19 minutes of hockey
before Droog gave Maine a 1-0 lead. The Black Bears used three third
period goals to put the game out of reach. Droog tallied her second
goal of the game, and team leading 10th of the season to put Maine up
2-0. Tracy Caridade (Sudbury, Ontario/Sudbury Vees) and Cailee
Heggestad (Regina, Saskatchewan/Olympic Oval
Program) both added third period tallies for Maine. Kelly Nelson
(South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) registered three assists on the
afternoon. Dawn Froats (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan/Notre Dame Hounds)
recorded her second shutout of the season in net.

Black Bears Among League Leaders:
The Black Bears have several players among conference leaders. Droog
ranks second in freshman scoring with 15 points, she is third in the
ECAC in goals with 10, and ranks 11th in points scored. Nelson is tied
for second in defensive scoring with 11 points. Froats is eighth in
goals against average, allowing 1.95 goals per contest.

I wonder where it is everytime I saw something from there. It sounds like a
pretty good school with good programs. Unfortunately, I am in Toronto, can't
join any of the activities.

Sometimes I wonder how many of our list members are aware that people all
over the world subscribe and may be wondering whether Groton School is in
their area/province/state/continent...

Does anyone have any information on how Tricia Dunn broke her arm during the
Four Nations Cup?? I recently read this in USA Today and it says she'll be
out of the lineup until late January.

Also, if anyone out here in hockey land has the Four Nations Final on tape
and who could make a dub for me, please drop me an email. I will pay you for
your troubles!
