I broke my collarbone playing soccer this year andwas
out for 5 weeks. I played soccer the day I was
cleared, got shoved down a few times and had no
problems. That same week I also played hockey and had
no problems. It all depends on your own body and how
quick you heal. I was a lucky one.

A word of caution. My daughter broke her collarbone playing hockey and the
Dr. insisted she could play hockey at 6 wks. She played at 6 wks. and broke
it again. The ortho spec. said it's 12 wks. for checking hockey.

I dislocated my shoulder in a motorcycle accident when I was 18. At the
time, my family physician told me I wouldn't play sports again. I was on
the University wrestling team at Guelph. They sent me to the Human Kinetics
Department for testing and physio. I was wresting later that year although
my shoulder hurt like hell and if pressure was put on it I "gave" and lost a
lot of matches that way. About 4 years later I dislocated it again playing
rugby when a monster ran thru me. That was the last time it went on me.

I'm now 44 and have played rugby, hockey, soccer and lacrosse all after my
injury. Never had surgery and, at this point, it doesn't look like it will
be necessary. Get yourself to a good physiotherapist, they can do wonders.

Congratulations to the Mississauga Chiefs organization for winning 3 gold
medals and 1 silver medal at the OWHA Provincial Championships.
Gold medals won by the Novice AA, Atom AA and Bantam AA teams.
A hard fought game at the Intermediate AA division saw the Junior Chiefs lose
2-1 to a very tough Bluewater Hawks team.
The Mississauga Chiefs organization continues to develop top level female
hockey players who go on to great NCAA, NWHL, Team Canada careers.
