My hockey team is also looking for a way to achieve non-profit status, but
we keep getting bogged down in the mire of paperwork and we have yet to
finish it.  Does anybody in the US (and in Texas, specifically) have
experience doing this, and could you give us some advice?  Is there an
umbrella organization that helps clubs like ours, or are we all on our
own?

The Esso Women's National Championships will be played March 25-28, 1999 at
the Hershey Centre, Mississauga, Ontario.
This is an excellent opportunity to see Canadian National Team players playing
with their club teams.

Last year, Seattle Women's Hockey Club achieved non-profit status. I'd
be happy to help anyone with any specific questions if I can.
Unfortunately, we couldn't find any way around the seemingly endless
paperwork, red tape and frustration involved. But it does taper off, and
actually is a really good learning experience.

Subject: Free Clinic / Summer Hockey

The Chesapeake Bay Lightning Women's Ice Hockey Club is sponsoring a Free
Ice Hockey Skills Clinic for Girls/Women on Sunday March 21 at 1:50 p.m. at
The Gardens Ice House in Laurel, MD.  No experience is necessary.  Full
equipment is required. Skate rental will be available through the rink.

If you are going to be in the Washington, D.C. / Baltimore, MD area this
summer our club has a summer hockey league from June through August.
