Absolutely. I went (painfully) through 2 pairs of Bauers
before I finally tried a pair of EE width CCM 952s. The CCMs
fit my feet perfectly from the outset -- I hardly even needed to
break them in.

My daughter had always worn Bauers. She started off in wides, and then
progressed to a regular width. She has never had any trouble breaking them
in. She has never progressed to an adult size, and is in youth sizes to
this day. I think that skates are like anything else. When you find
something that works, stick with it.

Its funny because a male friend of mine wears a EEE sneaker and Bauers are the only thing that feel good on his feet. Bauers do come in widths up to EEEE but have to be special ordered. I haven't been able to find another skate brand that comes in anything above a EE.

I don't think women with wide feet should count out Bauers.
I have wide feet (sneaker size 8E), and the CCM goal skates
are way too narrow but the Bauer 2000's size 6 regular
width fit perfectly, I don't know if that's because they do
the goal skates differently, but the Bauer's didn't even
need a break in period. My first pair of skates was CCM
because everyone told me that Bauer's are for narrow feet
and CCM for wide feet, and the CCM's never felt
comfortable, although they stopped giving me blisters after
about 4 months. My roommate has the opposite problem, he
couldn't wear Bauer's because the ankle was too loose for
support, and is having a hard time breaking in the CCM's he
got because the ankle is too tight. I think everyone needs
to try several brands of skates on before they decide.

Jill,
Put it in your SAVE mailbox, or bookmark it, or something. It is the most
valuable piece of information any hockey player can have! It can make you
extremely popular with almost everyone you know.

No, not a hick. Just really lucky not to have to deal with wearing an 11C
or a 51/2 AAA.

Hi Debbie -

Are you sure this link is current?

After a few seconds of loading the page, I get a pop-up window, "possible
security hazard" then an error message "The web page you are trying to
access doesn't exist on Yahoo! GeoCities. "

There was one that somebody posted a while ago - it was something like
"arearinks.com" but I cannot seem to find that one.

If anyhone out there knows the site I am referring to, please help!
(my bookmarks got zapped!)

Thanks. :-)

Jill,
I just tried the URL and it worked. A message about plug-ins popped up, I
cancelled it twice, and it worked. Try it again. It has been a true and
good friend for many years. I think the address you were talking about had
mostly mid-west locations, so I zapped it. This one has east coast rinks.

BULLDOGS EARN 1-0 OVER GOPHERS FOR WEEKEND SWEEP

Joanne Eustace scored with 1:24 left in the opening period and Amanda Tapp
stopped all 21 Minnesota shots at Minnesota-Duluth posted a 1-0 victory for
a weekend sweep of its series with the Gophers.

UMD controlled play through much of the first period, outshooting its host
9-3 in the opening 20 minutes, and Eustace scored the game's only goal when
she beat Minnesota's Erica Killewald low to the far post.

From that point, the goalies battled it out as the Bulldogs had a 20-18 edge
in shots over the final two periods.

Minnesota-Duluth enjoyed six minutes of power-play time in the final period
and withstood a late barrage by the Gophers after they pulled Killewald for
an extra attacked with 1:11 left to play.

With the victory, the seventh-ranked Bulldogs remain unbeaten at 12-0-0
overall and in league play. Minnesota is 10-5-0 overall and 7-2-0 in league
play.

Shoes do come in widths. Unfortunately, most shoes sold in
shoe stores are in one particular width, namely B. You would
think that B width would at least be the average width, but
it isn't. Those who study these things have measured a lot
of American women's feet and discovered that C width is average.

I once went into a shoestore and was dismayed to find not one
pair of shoes there fit me. The salesman had the nerve to tell
me that my feet were wrong! I now know better than to patronize
shoe stores (especially ones with idiot salespeople who criticize
their customers). Now I buy my shoes mail order, and yes, there
are plenty of shoes available in exceptionally wide (and exceptionally
narrow) widths.
