three squads, playing at three different skill levels A, B and C. If you
are looking for a team to play on in the Chicago area, you can contact us

Registration begins at 6:30 PM and the skate begins at 7:40 PM. On Sunday
September 12, we will skate at Johnny's Ice House. Registration begins at

Subject: Re: Y2K easy fix-it

While we appreciate the fact that we are all concerned about hockey players
having their PC's Y2K compliant, we really should have the facts before
forwarding emails filled with misinformation.

First and foremost - the Y2K issue (in a very small nutshell) is that some
sytems (hardware and software) are not capable of determining that the 2
digit "00" is actually supposed to be 2000 (as opposed to 1900) and actually
greater than "99."

The "fix" described in the email below only describes how to change the
DISPLAY of the dates.

However, there is no need to fret, my hockey playing cyber-friends.

I got the following from the MICROSOFT website:

Facts about Windows 95, Windows 98 and Y2K...

**Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows 98 are compliant and customers do not have
to perform the above steps to obtain compliance.
**Windows will store and calculate the date as 4 digits, independent of the
date display selected by the customer.
**Dates are stored and processed by Windows in a 4 digit format regardless of
the date display style selected in Regional settings.
**Customers can use the regional settings tab to adjust how the date is
displayed (e.g. mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyyy)

Also of GREAT IMPORTANCE, on the very same page, is a blurb about the Y2K
email HOAX going around. And yes folks, the hoax is the very same email
attached below.

For more info, please check out the following website:

http://www.microsoft.com/y2k/

If you are concerned with non-microsoft OS's or other hardware/software
check out their specific homepages.

There is also (inexpensive) software available that you can use to check your
entire PC system for Y2K compliancy.

We know you mean well by forwarding this type of email to our list, but
PLEASE - CHECK THE FACTS before sending out such emails. You'll save
everyone a LOT of headaches. (remember the Febreze email??)

Thanks.

Jill

<< To All, Thought you might be interested in the following:

 CHECK IT OUT...

 Double click on "My Computer".

 Double click on "Control Panel".

Double click on "Regional Settings" icon.

Click on the "Date" tab at the top of the page.

Where it says, "Short Date Sample", look and see if it shows a "two
digit" year. Of course it does. That's the default setting for
 Windows

95, Windows 98 and NT. This date RIGHT HERE is the date that feeds
application software and WILL NOT rollover in the year 2000. It will
roll over to 00. Click on the button across from "Short Date Style"
and select the option that shows, mm/dd/yyyy. (Be sure your selection
has four Y's showing, not two) Then click on "Apply" and then click on
"OK" at the bottom. Easy enough to fix. However, every single
installation of Windows worldwide is defaulted to fail Y2K rollover.
Now YOU know - pass it on. >>

Subject: Players Wanted in Denver

The Denver Ice is a women's team that plays in one of the local men's leagues here in Denver. Due to
pregnancies and an unforseen job transfer, we are looking for a couple of experienced players to join our
team. Games are played at the Ice Centre (north part of town) during the week. If you are interested,
please contact Heather Poe at 303-838-9348.
