Subject: 1998 USA Hockey InLine Cup : Women's Division Results

Here are the results of the women's division of the 1998 USA Hockey
InLine Cup, which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada last weekend. The
women's division had 20 teams that competed in 5 round robin pools.
After the round robin pool play, the teams were ranked and separated
accordingly into Division I and II. Then playoffs for each of these
two divisions took place.

The Mission Bettes team is the new 1998 USA Hockey In-Line National
Champion for the women's Division I. They defeated the defending
champions Toronto Franklin Typhoon by a score of 2-0 in the
championship game.

There were several former or current national ice hockey team members
who played for the two teams competing in the championship game. From
the Mission Bette's there were Manon Rheaume, Hayley Wickenheiser, y
Diduck, Maria Dennis, and Sami Jo Small. From the Franklin Typhoon
there were Katey King, Shelley Looney, and me (Andria Hunter). Manon
Rheaume played out, and she was tied for 4th overall in scoring with
Hayley Wickenheiser (stats are shown below) ... not bad for a goalie!!

In Division II, it was South Sound Storm (from Washington) over
Biscuits 'N Gravy (from California) by a score of 4-3 in the
Championship game. A big surprise in Division II was the performance
of the team from Argentina. This team worked really hard and showed a
lot of character. They lost their Division II semi final game in 9
shootout shots to the eventual Division II winner, the South Sound
Storm.

Hot off the wire:

Rheaume, & Nystrom will miss Women's Team Camp

Olympic Silver medalists Manon Rheaume of Lac Beauport, Qc and Karen
Nystrom of Scarborough, ON will not be able to participate in the
1998 National Women's Team Evaluation Camp in Montreal.

Rheaume, 26 who married Gerry St.Cyr this summer, told Sauvageau last
week she is pregnant with the coupl's first child. She is expected
to give birth in May 99 and will miss the entire 98/99 season.

Nystrom, will miss the camp owing to an ankle injury she suffered
while training for the 1998 Olympic Winter Games. She is expected to
be available for both the 3 Nations Cup trounament in Finland in
December , as well as the Women's World Championship, if she earns a
birth on the team.

The absence of Rheaume and Nystrom cuts the camp roster to 39
players, including four goaltenders, for the moment. Sauvageau said
the team may invite another player to replace Nystrom.

The rest of the players were slated to arrive today for the first of
seven days of practices at the Maurice Richard Arena.
