Subject: College problems

Well, I'll be applying to colleges in the fall, so I have been searching in
full swing now for a few months. It is so frustrating! I can't seem to find
a small college with the major that I want (something in communications), a
women's team, and enough scholarship money so that I would be able to afford
it. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to widen my criteria. I
like what I saw at Ithaca (they have my exact major! Sports Information and
Communications with a minor in PR!!!!! )except for the money part and that
they don't have a team. If anyone lives in the vicinity of the school and
knows of any other non-collegiate teams that I would be able to be a part of,
please let me know. Same thing if anyone lives around Tulane. And if anyone
happens to know of a small, well respected college with a team, communications
major, and that gives good scholarships, I will be grateful forever.
Thanks.

Amy

Karyn Bye, Cammi Granato, Gretchen Ulion, Shelly Looney, Sarah Tueting and Sandra Whyte are featured in a Hall of Fame picture behind an American flag (dressed rather scantily) in the latest June issue of Rolling Stone with Johnny Dep on the cover. It is a weekly, so if you want this interesting picture, pick it up soon.

1. While it may encourage men to pass to female teammates, I think that
you are automatically assuming that a woman player needs to have a
hockey scoring "handicap" to play in the league. ( I also know that the
guys I used to play with would have laughed their tushies off if I had
ever suggested such a thing...) All in all, I feel its a bad idea.

2. Jen, even if the league doesn't require it, I would invest in a
"Jill". I took a practice pass with a roller hockey ball to that area
once and I can't imagine what a slapshot would have felt like. Tears
come to my eyes just thinking about it!

Enough said...

Jan,

I heard CCM skates fit one and a half sizes smaller than your regular shoe
size. I recently bought a pair of 455 inlines for my size 12 shoe that were
a size 10.5 skate boot. If you're unsure of how they'll fit your foot, it's
best to find a pro shop near you to try them on before you buy. You can run
into alot of problems buying online without knowing the proper size to order.
