I just heard a live report on the CBC radio - Sweden just scored to lead
Canada 1-0 early in the second period. I think I understood the reporter
to say that Laura Schuler was playing and looked okay. The game was being
played in the smaller Olympic venue, which was about 1/2 full (3000
spectators).

Any news of the USA-Japan game?

The symbol you saw is "Bauer" one of the worlds best providers of hockey
gear. A Canadian company. Canada doesn't need a big brand name like "Nike"
 to win the gold.

Hi All-

I am just so excited about the upcoming games..
I know over the next two weeks I am going to be guled
to any media source I can lay my hands on.

My only wish is that more of the women's hockey games
would be televised. I am lucking to live close enough to
Canada so that I can catch more of the action on CBC.
Their coverage in the past has been outstanding !!

Got olympic fever too ???

You can send an email to the athletes @ the IBM fan Mail site.

I send a good luck message to the members of USA hockey teams.

Good luck to all of the Ladies in Nagano
but my heart belongs to the American..

Actually Nike owns Bauer. Nike just keeps marketing its products to
Canadians under the Bauer name because of the great reputation and
tradition that the Bauer name carries in Canadian hockey.

The Canadian team jersey also has a rose on its left chest in honour of
Rose Cherry, the late wife of CBC commentator Don Cherry.

Yesterday's SF Chronicle had an article about the US Women's Olympic Team,
written by C W Nevius. Only problem is that this guy didn't bother to do
any research. Otherwise, he wouldn't have lead with quotes from "top US
goaltender Erin Whitten." Or did she get uncut in the last few days and
I didn't hear about it?

Good exposure, bad execution.

You also can read the article on their web page:

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/1998/02/03/SP25162.DTL&type=printable

Sure seems like I read these exact same quotes from Whitten and Cammi in a
recent magazine article...

The rose will not be n the jerseys during the Olympics, as it is
against the rules.

That was true during pre-Olympic play, however, OOC rules forbid its use during the games.

Well, it's Nevius. 'nuff said. That's one of his trademarks.
