Hi folks.
We need your ice and roller hockey tourney dates for the fall and winter 98.
We'll run this info in our tournament calendar of the next issue of
HIPCHECK magazine which covers girls & women's hockey across the U.S. and
Canada. Tourney name, date, location, levels, phone #.
Thanks a bunch!
Kelly

Women's hockey is growing in Victoria.

The just issued recreation guide for the city shows a new program for Friday
nights 8:25-9:55 pm, Memorial Arena:

WOMEN'S RECREATIONAL HOCKEY

Why not try something new? This program is for women who have little or no
experience playing hockey but who want a new challenge and a whole lot of
fun. You'll develop new skills while learning and playing the great Canadian
game. Helmet, elbow pads, shin pads, pants and a stick are required; other
protective equipment is recommended. For more info or registration, call
Cindy O'Regan at 361-0362.

Also, there's a new rec team starting up at the Panorama Leisure Centre
(Sidney/North Saanich) first meeting (on ice) taking place Wednesday night.
I'll let Carol Hagel carry the ball and give us a posting about that.

I thought Memorial Arena lost its ice. Is this ice, or roller? If they
have ice, why aren't the Salsa there any more?

It's ice hockey. The rink still stands, as the various deadlines for the
California used car salesman (Pasant) and his proposed multiplex have been
broken. Latest word is that the wrecking ball will swing Dec. 31. They had
ice in all last winter, for rental purposes and public skating. The city had
to pay off the Salsa owner for lost revenue. Most of the nice seats were
ripped out, then embarassingly replaced. This city council doesn't know what
the hell it's doing. Salsa attendance dropped by more than half.

Hi everyone,

Many of you submitted articles for submission in the next edition of Blades &
Trades(tm). However, recently our offices sustained severe damage resulting
from a flash flood. Thanks to some incredible staff members and technicians
we are getting back up . . . or "drying out" so to speak.

Nevertheless, could everyone that submitted articles please sent them (again)
to email@hidden. Thank you for your patience during this time.
