Anyone have word yet on the Nationals? (esp the Senior A division)

The usahockey.com page is VERY SLOW in updating their pages. I relaize this
is not the olympics, but there are some people who are interested.

Thanks.

I have looked everywhere. Does anyone know where to find Women's hockey
skates? I am specificly looking for Bauer, because I have already seen
the CCM. They are great, but I want to have more choice.

I have some of the CCM women's skates in stock and have the Bauer
women's skates on order. I have a few women on my waiting list for
them now. Contact me privately if interested.

Wow, we had a GREAT turnout yesterday at Chaparral Ice in Austin! We had
14 women out there yesterday, including a goalie. Our drills and
scrimmage were great fun and provided a good level of challenge without
too much frustration. It's a great environment for people to push
themselves as far as they want to push without feeling overpressured by
overly competitive others.

Please spread the word! I think this has awesome potential and can
provide a perfect environment for women players in the area.

Subject: shin pads and some other things

ok, as a rookie with shin pads (I used to just wear knee pads since shin pads
weren't required) I have a question or two. And I feel really dumb asking
this, but anyways, first thing, which one goes on which leg? they don't have
the little R or L on them. And I know the straps on my elbow pads are supposed
to go in, so is it the same with the shin pads? I guess thats it for the shin
pads.
Now to gloves, who makes good roller hockey gloves? I have a really cheesy
Rollerblade pair, that we've had to sew the fingers up a couple times on. and
as some have said you get what you pay for, and these gloves prove that, and I
told my mom that when she bought them, but nooo she didn't listen. Oh well.
And to skates. We now have a new outdoor rink, and the concrete is really
slippery, how can I keep from sliding? wait let me guess, new wheels? At least
stopping doesn't tear up my wheels as much on that stuff. I finally took my
brake off, not that I used it very often anyways, but there was a definite
difference. And laces, I have a hard time getting my laces tight enough around
the ankles, and when I do, I have no feeling in my toes, and I think it was on
this list that somebody said to get like 2 shorter pairs of laces, so you can
tighten the different parts of your skate better, so would that work?

Thanks

Try to find the donut pads for your ankles. Most skate shops have them.

I had the "lace tightening" problem for YEARS until a salesman at the old
LA Kings rink told me to try the donut pads. You just put your ankle in the
hole of the donut, tape the donut in place with sports tape, and put a thin
sock over your foot. Than lace up your skates, but not too tight.

What was happening with me was that my ankles stuck out too far from the rest
of my foot and so when I cranked down on the laces, all of the pressure of
the entire side of the skate was ALL concentrated on one point, my ankle.
And the blood vessels there. This cut off the cirulation and, walla!, numb
toes.
That was also the reason I thought I couldn't get my laces tight enough.

Try the donut. It should work. And it's a cheap fix too :)
