NEW HAMPSHIRE TO BE HOME TO FIRST WOMEN'S PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE

Tri-Town Arena and WPHL, Inc. Reach Preliminary Agreement

AMHERST, NH - The Tri-Town Arena in Hooksett, NH will be home to a Women's
Professional Hockey League franchise it was announced today by league
president Ed Saunders. "We are very excited to have awarded a franchise to
New Hampshire," said Saunders. "The Granite State has established a long
tradition of success in the sport of women's ice hockey, which is clearly
demonstrated by the number of players on the U.S. National Team who have a
New Hampshire connection."

Allan R. Clark and Ronnie J. Brousseau of the Tri-Town Ice Arena Management,
LLC, met with Saunders late yesterday afternoon in Manchester. The new $5.7
million facility, due to be opened in February, 1998, will be home to one of
four franchises in the world's first elite ice hockey league for women. "The
two projects present an opportunity for real synergy," said Clark. "Both are
community based and involve local interests."

Ron Brousseau, founder and director of the Lowell Chiefs youth development
program, will be directly involved in scheduling the team's ice time and
facility arrangements. Brousseau says, "Having a team in New Hampshire will
afford the local communities with the opportunity to view many of the elite
female athletes from around the region."

"The facility, currently under construction, is perfectly suited to the needs
of the new league," said Saunders. With two 85' X 200' rinks, abundant
seating, permanent locker rooms,a heated mall area overlooking the ice
surface, concession areas, a conference room, and a fitness center, the yet
unnamed team will find itself in the most comfortable of settings.

The next phase of the process involves the development of a grassroots
support network in the region. The cost of bringing the franchise to the
area will be $500,000, which the WPHL hopes to see raised within the
communities which the team will represent. "It is imperative that the people
of New Hampshire be included in this project," says Saunders. "It is very
likely that some of the athletes will be from the area, and we are well aware
of the desire on the part of New Hampshire's hockey fans to continue their
participation in the careers of these women."

The WPHL Board of Directors will be planning a visit to the building site in
the near future and hopes to survey the construction with players who have
already signed with the league.

Hmm, wonder what kind of identity problems this will have with the other
WPHL Western Professional Hockey League, now in it's 2nd year.

They're out of their minds. There is no way in the world this can succeed.
There aren't enough elite players, there's not enough fan interest, and I
seriously doubt there's enough money in a place like Hooksett to get this off
the ground.

Five years, maybe. Ten years, possibly. Fifteen to twenty years, yes. But
now is not the time for a women's professional league. Why people are
insisting on forcing this now is beyond me.

Just returned from the USA v. Canada game in Salt Lake City. Granato,
skating as the fifth shooter in the shoot-out after all previous shooters
were blanked, stuck it in to give USA a 5-4 win! Incredible game! Find a
good description of the game on USA TODAY or one of the team web pages, as
I could not do the game justice with my description. Did I already say
what an incredible game it was? OH MY GOD...THIS IS GREAT HOCKEY!!!

105 days to Japan and US Gold!
