Wow, 6,854 fans at a women's college hockey game! That's awesome! A
lot of the world championship games don't even get that many fans!!

"Why don't the best players make the team?" "After the top ten, they're
interchangeable"?

If the top UNH players could have traded places with the third liners on Team
USA, may I ask why Team USA outshot UNH by something like 4 to 1????? That
is not the mark of two evenly matched teams, nor is it even remotely close to
the results when the amateur men's Team USA played NHL teams. I saw a couple
of those games, and the shot differential was more like 32-21 in favor of the
pros, not something that probably should have led to the slaughter rule being
invoked.

This also shows just how little depth there is in women's hockey, at least in
the United States. UNH and Northeastern are two ECAC powerhouses, and Team
USA wasn't even particularly tested. A comparable men's college team, like
BU or BC or Lake Superior State, would also lose to an old-style Team USA
made up of top prospects and veteran minor leaguers *but they wouldn't lose
ugly.* Two 9-0 pastings, and two outrageous shot differentials, show just
how far the colleges have to go.

And BTW, my sincere condolences to poor Alicia Roberts, who must still be
recovering from the shot barrage......:(

Story from a father of one player said that it was a sell out. Seam to
see this a lot everywhere. People buy tickets and then don't show. Why
that happens in a rather historic game is unknown.

with regard to our recent discussions on women's equipment:

i am currently skating in takla 2500's and really like them. i was
surfing the web and found:

http://www.mostlyhockey.com/home_index.html

they carry a _women's_ pant by takla. they are selling them for
$79.99. apparently, takla has just introduced the women's pant this
year. so, if you are shopping for new gear and are interested in a
women's model - check out this store.

Thanks so much for your sympathy but I actually faced more shots in the 30
minutes I played against Team USA in Concord. Somehow I managed to only
allow 5 goals in those 49 shots too.

Contrary to popular belief, UNH played an outstanding game on Sunday,
especially considering we have only been practicing a couple of weeks
compared to the Olympic team's couple of months! We want to take them on
again at the end of the season just to see how much we improve. Keep in
mind, most of our team is still young (we only boast 3 seniors). Besides,
maybe by the end of the season I will have recovered from the game :).
