Subject: rink opens late- how does your ice rink make up for it?
Message-ID:

Hello everyone!

     Our team has a problem:

We practice at the first ice time early Sunday mornings (sometimes 6:30am,
sometimes 7:30am). About 25% of the time, no one is there to open up the
rink til we're supposed to actually be on the ice. The rink has been very
inconsistent about what they do for us- generally they don't offer a sincere
apology, sometimes we get free ice, sometimes we pay half price, sometimes
they give us 15 extra minutes, and last Sunday, they wanted us to pay full
price ($10 per person) but they would give us free passes to their overcrowded
stick time (value of $7.50).

  Here's my question:

Does anyone here have troubles with their rink not opening on time, and if
you do- what does the management do to fix the problem?

thanks,
jenny

My team went to Clearwater Florida last Christmas (Dec. 28 - Jan. 5) to play
in the Tampa Bay Sunshine Classic Tournament. It was the first time they've
held it, and there was 3 teams in it (my team-Michigan O'Leary Hawks, Sudbury
Ontario, and a team from Tampa Florida). Each team played each other 2 times
- for a total of four games. We played at a dual rink facility in Oldsmar,
which was very nice. You can contact Mike Chaney (London Ontario) at (519)
641-2934 to see if they're going to do again this year. Feel free to e-mail
me directly if you have any other questions.

P.S. The weather was great in Florida; and it was great being able to go to
the arena in shorts, and then go to the beach too!

The Ohio Flames are really good teams. I live in Defiance which is in
northwest Ohio. I play for the Michigan Capitals, and we played an
Ohio Flames team at a tournament. It was a close game, I forget who
won. The only reason I play in Michigan is because it's "only" two
hours away, so it's closer than the Flames are.
