I am the girls level director for Waukesha County Youth Hockey Association.
Just to set the record straight - NOBODY beat our Midget Girls in the
innagural state tournament :) We did host the state tournament at Eble
Park in Brookfield. We fielded approximately 80 girls last year with a
mite/development team, squirt team, peewee team, and our State Champion
Midgets. Our peewees and squirts won the consolation trophy in their
respective state tournaments. (both exciting and tight tournaments)
Our Midgets did not play in the Hudson tournament (not sure if they had
midgets), but our squirts and peewees did this year.
I've contacted Julee with some Milwaukee area girls hockey contacts.

Laura,
I'm attending Peak Performance in Winona, MN, this summer. They have a
womens/girls camp in July for 1 week. They have a web page
peakperformance.com or peakhockey.com (something along those lines)

Many graphite sticks are lighter than aluminum sticks. For instance,
I have both an Easton Prolite Graphite Stick and Easton Gold Aluminum
sticks that I've had for years. The graphite stick is significantly
lighter but as far as I know only comes in an Extra Stiff Flex shaft..
.my aluminums are just medium flex. Because of
this, I like my aluminums better...

Thought I'd join in on the discussion of skates.
If you are a beginner buy cheap skates (HA!) BUT the exact right size!
Muscles in your feet control the skate, if these muscles are not yet
developed you have no control; but cheap tight skates will start to
develop these muscles. Skating time will develope muscles for control.
after these muscle develop then you need a better skate- stronger muscle
need better equipment to effect the control. If you have skate from the
time you are three years old to twenty five every hockey season then you
need the very best stuff!?

Hi,
In Michigan...there's a few women only camps available outside of RinkSport
in Mt. Clemens.
Former Red Wing, Bill Gadsby is having a camp for Women. I heard he ran a
really good camp last year, but I didn't attend it. Aug 18 - 22nd, in
Southfield, Michigan. Phone #810-352-0180.
The coach of the Little Caesars Travel Team is holding another Women's Only
camp, July 14-18, in Oak Park, Michigan. I went to this last year...and it
was well worth the money. Marty was an excellent coach...well run drills,
and I learned a lot. He also skates you til you're ready to die (I think he
forgets he's not coaching 14 year old boys!) Call Marty Quarters,
810-848-1939.
