Hi Brooke,

I'm from Upstate NY.. I was wondering what Community Collage you were
attending..?? I'm from Rochester NY... We have a womans travel team... We
sometimes scrimmage against the RIT tigers which are Div.3 I believe... I was
just wondering if you were going to be at a school in the area .. We could
try to get a scrimmage if you get a team...... Good luck on getting a team
together...

CHRISTINE..

George, not having seen the video, I am not positive on whether or not my
assumptions are correct. I believe that there is NO deliberate body
contact in female hockey. If you use your body intentionally to take out a
player or take the puck from a player then that would be considered as
deliberate body contact. Incidental contact would be an unintentional bump
or contact that occurs normally during the game IE in the corners when
trying to get the puck and the players touch due to close proximity.
This is not an argument for or against contact. I think that because
referees are humans, they will interpret the type of contact diferently
from ref to ref.
The call should be differentiated from "body contact" or "body checking".
On the game sheet, when a penalty is given it is often referred to as body
contact.
I'd like to see the video. I think that the referees in Sudbury do see the
video as part of their training program. If I am correct it is not specific
to female hockey, but to minor hockey in general.
Lynn

The refs and players are all women and the introduction by the president of the IIHF specifically refers to women's hockey. The contact is more than incidental that is shown in the video. I know the teams that I am going to coach are going to be more physical because of this video. I liken the contact to that contact that is allowed in basketball. If you have $20 I highly recommned you purchase it. If I recall correctly its called "Body Contact - The Right Call". I think if more people saw this type of tough, well played hockey women's game would be better received. -- George Boccanfuso And the only people I fear are those who never have doubts -Billy Joel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 06 May 1997 08:56:28 -0600 From: email@hidden To: email@hidden Subject: Help with address in Mass.
