Good News!!! Vladdy is still in a coma, but he is responding to voices
of teammates and family. He is also responding when the song "We Are The
Champions" is played. Slava may be released from the hospital as soon as
today! The massuer is not responding to anything as far as I know. Keep
on praying and they'll pull through!

Here a more accurate history of the Shooting Star program from Charlotte

For the lower-back problems, I suggest consulting a competent physical
therapist. I've had lower back problems, and the physical therapists
gave me an exercise program to manage the problem. Among other things, I
needed to strengthen my stomach muscles so that I could hold my lower back in
the "neutral" curve. Physical therapists can also help you to adjust your
chairs and the seat of your car to the right shape to support you.

Hi all, I am currently putting together a Web site for the recreational player
in North America. One section will be a hockey newsletter/paper. Within this
paper I would like to start a monthly column that documents over the year one
womens trials and tribulations through an entire season. Your challenges and
triumphs.
All you would need to do is submit a 500-600 word document on that months
activity with some stats and team results.
I think this would be a great way to bring to light womens hockey and the
unique issues it faces, as well as entertaining.
No writing skill is needed.

I still think you are missing the point. There is lot's of contact
in the women's game. However, what there is not is intentional body
checking. There are still many ways to check an opponent, without a
body check. This forces a higher skill level with respect to
removing the puck from the puck carrier. In fact, now you must be
able to skate with your opponent, not just have muscle and size to
overpower the opponent in an attempt to seperate the puck from the
puck carrier. >>
I could not agree with you more completely....

This injury however could end Fetisov's career given that he is 39 and has
had a significant injury that could affect his ability to reach a decent
level of conditioning. With regard to Vlad the Impaler, at this point with
this type of injury you just have to go day by day hoping that he is able
to emerge from the coma shortly. The longer he stays unresponsive, the
more likely he will be left with permanent neurologic deficits.--GG

UNH's "Break The Ice" Hockey camp is from July 27 - August 2 at the Towse rink.
The cost is $550. for overnighters, and $450. for commuters. I don't have

Bree is 11 (turns 12 in Nov.), she has played travel for 4 seasons. She is
currently playing for the Jr. Ducks in Anahiem PeeWee 'b', co-ed team. Bree
also played for Team Cal Squirts last year, she went with them to Con. but
not the Nationals. She has just tryed out for Team Cal PeeWee team but is to
young to play for them. We live in San Diego, so we drive 1 1/2 hrs one way
for her to play there.
We have been very lucky with equipment. The owner of the sports shop in
Norwalk (LA), took a liking to her 4 years ago. They have helped get the
best equip. that works for her. As you know being female alot of the
equipment doesn't fit right!! She has worn Brian Air Pacs(3 pounds, very
light) for 2 yrs. They gave her her first Louisville and she won't use
anything else.
You can write to Bree at my home address: email@hidden

Subject: wrist shots - message from Anne Paulson
Message-ID:
Anne,
Besides lots of practice, to improve your wrist shot you will have to
improve your wrist strength. I made my own strengthening device. I
took a 5lb weight (the round kind with a hole in the middle), tied a string to
a cut off piece of hockey stick (~15inches long), looped the string thru
the weight then attached back on the hockey stick. Using both hands I
turn the stick, which winds the string around the stick and raises the
weight. As your wrist strengh increases you can change the weight or
increase the number of reps.
Also if you use a "super slider" (kids plastic toboggan) to shoot off it will
seem like ice.
Good luck,
Tanya Martin
