My boyfriend and I air out our equipment equally weel, but his stuff
smells worse than mine (with the exception of perhaps my smelly
gloves!). But it's not necessarily the difference between men and
women because my roommate's stuff (she is a woman) smells waaaay
worse than my boyfriend's!

So, in conclusion, I think it really depends on the person. From
my experience, men usually smell worse than women, but there are
definitely some exceptions. And yes, I agree, airing out the
equipment right away does make a big difference.

overnight hockey camps in Ontario. A goaltender program must be availible
from the camp.

I have to disagree with you here...Almost all of my equipment is Easton.
Buy equipment because it fits well and protects you well, not because you
believe, or don't believe, in their ads. Furthermore, that ad isn't aimed
at women who buy hockey equipment, it's aimed directly at men. If that's
what it takes to sell to men, well, you have to go with what works, and
lets face facts, men will buy Easton because of the ad. And, lastly, I
hate to admit this (no, I don't hate to admit it, really) but part of what
attracted me to hockey in the first place was how cute their butts were : )
I now play hockey myself, but I will always look to see how cute the
players are. I am a reformed (ok, not even reformed) puck bunny and proud
of it : )

Men also buy CCM, Jofa and Titan, and they don't use groupies in their ads.
The best and funniest ads out there right now are those Nike ads with the
broken down old goalies living in paper boxes, or scrubbing floors in full
equipment.

I don't play hockey, but if I did, Easton would be the last name on my list.
There's plenty of equipment just as good (or better) out there that doesn't
feel the need to insult part of its customer base, or play into stereotypes.
There are enough men out there who condescend to female fans/players as it
is without widely distributed advertisements that make it seem that the only
reason women are interested in hockey players is because of their looks.

I'd also like to know how anyone can tell if a player has a cute butt or not,
considering that said butts are encased in inch thick padding during
play.....:)

Haven't you ever seen them before or after a game in their suits, or in a
locker room interview?

Or, a little closer to home, I play with mostly men and we use the same
dressing room...by now they don't even remember there are females in the
room with them (19 of them 2 of us)...

Off season I love summer Hockey!!!! I play back to back on Saturday
nights...a total of 3 hrs It is a great workout..

And next week I am off to UNH's Womens Hockey camp for the week.

I also called up about a coed league that is going on currently, and may join
another clinic or cardio skate group one night a week.

Spring/Summer/Fall are great seasons for Hockey... I'd rather not have an
"Off Season"!

As far as playing with the guys learn to skate have confidence and don't let
them push you around. Some of them don't play that well either. Go out there
and have a good time.

less than 1 week to Hockey Camp...

Also stay tuned for a women's program that hopefully will develop this fall
in the Southern NH and Northern MA areas.... more details as they develop.

And on another note there is finally a sign posted in Hooksett on 3A for the
"Tri-Town Rink" .... the rink still needs to be built, but it seems they may
have ironed out the finances and permits. YEEHAH!!!

Until L8R skate & have fun

Hey, I know what we can do! Once the NHL season starts, we'll have a
"cute goalie butt of the week" contest. At the end of the year, the NHL
goalie who got named "C.G.B.o.t.W." most often will be awarded the
"C.G.B.o.t.Y."! The reason I specify goalies is because their butts can
be closely monitored by watching the games. I'm sure you have all seen
the view from the net camera, where all you can really see is a
HUMONGOUS black-padded goalie butt taking up the entire camera.
Naturally, he's always bending over, so you get a WAY better look that
you'd really like. You can't see anything else but that butt! I say we
rename it the "butt camera" and nominate "C.G.B.o.t.W." candidates based
upon the fine, up close views we get from the ol' butt-cam.

This is NOT meant as sarcasm directed at anyone. It's just that my son
(who is a goalie) and I always collapse with laughter when they start
panning with the butt-cam, and this particular thread reminded me of how
hilarious breezer-clad butts can be.

Really? I am always amazed at just what a well placed puck can do to a
guy's face. There is no uglier team than the Flyers. (I love them, but
really, they are *butt* ugly.) Through the detritus of years of hockey,
you can see the previously-cute. Maybe that is why they make so much.
Loot for looks.

I won't wear anything from a company who thinks I'm a dimwit. I would
rather suffer with equipment that doesn't fit perfectly or comfortably
than to but products from a company that sees me as a woman who FOLLOWS
their equiped players around rather than a woman who WEARS their
shoulder pads. If guys don't like the coke commercial, they can stop
drinking diet coke, even though more women drink diet sodas. But Easton
is totally alienating a growing market, and as a hockey equipment
producer, they should know that women's hockey is out there and
growing. They should also know that among female viewers, hockey is
second to football. Therefore many women also read The Hockey News and
other "male" hockey publications where they advertise. Louisville uses
a women but she's in uniform (Cammi Granato) and she can be a role model
for girls. Easton really has to do some market research.
