hi, I made a web site and not a lot of people are coming to it. It's mostly
about hockey. Could somebody send me some suggestions on what to put on my
page?

Get me the address for your page, and I'll go have a look at it and see
what's up. Off-hand, I can think of the 3 major reasons why web pages fail
to get hits:
1)Great page and all, but lack of advertisement. Get your URL out there
through e-mail lists, news groups, and other web advertising. YOu should
also submit your page to search engines, and as well as look into joing join
web rings and banner exchange programs.
2)Your page may have good information, but it isn't eye-catching or the
information is hidden away in the bowels of a 4 page long introduction. Make
sure you catch the eye of the viewer and provide them with the information
they're looking for right away. Graphics are great to get their attention,
but make sure that it doesn't take to long to load, or they'll leave.
3)Your page catches their eye, is advertised sufficiently, but just doesn't
have enough on it. You need to make sure you have enough information to back
up all those great graphics and goodies you've thrown on your page. If
you're struggling to find things to put up, go searching for some great
links on the topic of your page. The viewer will appreciate this, because it
eliminated the need for them to search high and low for pages related to
your topic. It's like saying you're sorry you don't have what they're
looking for, but these places might.
This year, I really started doing webpages seriously(or pages that were far
from serious, just spending more time on them)...and I finally got a job out
of it designing pages for companies and the likes(Soy El Queso Web
Productions is the name of my new, little company). If you need any tips or
info, you can e-mail me at email@hidden
If you're really bored, you can check out my women's hockey page, dedicated
to the Keweenaw Wings(K-Wings)Women's Midget Travel Hockey Team(I know, I
know, I've neglected the thing way too long...)at
http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Track/4576
I also have a humorous page called The Church of Duncan at
http://www.angelfire.com/mi/perks/duncan.html
And an A-Team homepage at http://members.tripod.com/~dead_head/
I have 2 more pages, but I won't subject you all to them :)
Sorry for the long message everyone, next time I'll keep my mouth shut! :)

I received this message from another list and thought some people on this
list might be interested:
On NESN's SportsCircuit web site (www.sportscircuit.com)
there is an article by Jack Falla on college hockey. One of
the paragraphs mentions the possiblility of a women's pro
league forming in the East & Canada. Seems that the
organizers feel that the Women's game will get a huge boost
from Nagano. I just hope we get the TV coverage to make it
true.
FYI, this message was written by a man on a predominately male list, from
which I have received quite a few messages were not supportive
of women's hockey, and, in particular, of expanding opportunities for
women to play hockey. I was quite pleased to read this message and learn
that this is far from true for some men on that list.
Just a few questions pertaining to the message: Does anyone know what the
networks are planning for coverage of women's hockey in the Olympics? Does
anyone know how we can voice our opinions to the networks?
