Hi. I just wanted to let everyone know about a women's team called the Long
Island Hurricanes, based in the NYC area. We have three sides: a travel
team, a developmental team, and a novice team. Although tryouts are already
over for actual team spots, anyone who is interested in practicing (once a
week, times and places in L. I. vary) is welcome to come along.

For information, call Chrissie Nastassi at (516) 626-0894.

Also, we're looking for any tournaments within a 3-hour drive from New York
City. If you know of any, please either call Chrissie or email me pertinent
information or URLs at email@hidden.

Thanks!

I went to the Sharks preseason game against Boston last night & was
pleasantly surprised to see that two teams from the local women's hockey
association were playing during the first intermission. As soon as they
took the ice, however, the song "Girls, Girls Girls" (I think that must
be the title) came on over the PA system. It sounded like Aerosmith,
although I'm not good on heavy metal bands.

To me, the song was a pretty poor choice & fairly demeaning. My first
thought was to write a letter to the Arena, but I thought I'd ask
members of this list for their opinions. I couldn't make out most of the
words of the song, so perhaps it's not as offensive as it seemed to be.

Thoughts? Reactions?

it's even more offensive than you think. the song is by motley
crue (those fine upstanding feminist sympathizers), i have seen
this on mtv years ago

i do not know all the words either, but the lyrics are about
different strip clubs and exotic dancers. the video is one
stripper after another, dancing in lingerie

i liked a lot of music of the hard rock era-- but the videos
were constantly trash. like it wasn't bad enough we had lita
ford humping a guitar, we had to have crue ogling half naked
girls... i'm surprised the arena played it.

what happened to Back in Black? Let's Get Rocked? good time stuff.
granted, they do play that Shania Twain "Any Man of Mine" tune and
i've never heard a guy complain...

but they will be getting an email from me.
