dates, etc.)
There is a tournament being held at Lakewood (rink is affiliated with the one in
Anaheim) Glacial Gardens on the weekend of July 4th, i.e. July 4-7. I have not
heard of one in August. The tournament is going to have two women's divisions.
That is all I know so far. I will get details and post them as soon as I can
get more info. As far as calibre goes, most of the women's teams in this area
are D, DD or C. I have heard that there maybe a team from Northern California
coming and we would encourage anyone else interested in joining us.
Also, there was a question earlier about a women's tournament in Las Vegas at
Christmas time. This is the story I have heard...
The tournament is organized by David Cohen and his company. There was a
tournament planned for last Christmas, but the women's portion was postponed.
The men's teams responded quickly and filled up, while the women were slow in
responding, so they turned the ice time over to more men's teams and planned a
women's tournament in March instead. The So. Cal Rays signed up for the March
tourney, but was the only women's team to get their money in by the deadline.
We were given the choice of not playing or playing against the men. We decided
to play the men. It was a great tournament anyway and good experience for the
team.
I will see if I can get information on the tourney for this December and contact
names and numbers for Cohen. I would encourage any team to join in and look
forward to see you in Las Vegas. Just get your money in on time this year! 8-)
