I'm happy to announce the release of the first edition of our World
Wide Web interface to the plaidworks.com mailing lists. This
interface ties together all of the various pieces of information we
have on the mailing lists, and also now allows you to subscribe and
unsubscribe via your web browser and get away from the weird syntax of
the mail list daemon.

Browse and place it in your
bookmarks for future reference. It should make dealing with the lists a
lot easier for most of us.

Since this is brand new, PLEASE send reports of any problems you run
into. It's been tested fairly heavily, but there may be buglets
wandering through, and the sooner I find out about it, the sooner I can
stomp them. If you have suggestions or complaints, don't be afraid to
pass them along, either.

My messages announcing the new web site had a problem with the URL. The
correct URL is:

and NOT on plaidworks.com. This thing's running off my MacOS server,
not my Unix server. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm contemplating a move to the Charlottesville, Virginia area and of
course I need to know if there is any women's hockey teams there or nearby
(an hours drive or so). So, is hockey alive in well in Virginia?

Please respond to email@hidden. Thanks!

Hey folks --

I made my reservation and sent in my check, so it looks like I'm going to
RinkSport, that girls'/women's hockey camp that was recommended her a
little while back. They still have room in some of their programs, I know,
so if you're interested, call them at (800) 868-7679.

My question is -- is anyone else going? If so, when?

Later...

     Mary -

University of Virginia doesn't have a hockey team or rink - it's not
     even a club sport.

There is a hockey team in Raleigh Durham, NC, one in Charlotte, NC,
one in Northern Virginia, and one in Laurel, MD (mine, the Chesapeake
Bay Lightning) - all of which are far from C'ville.

Check out the list of women's hockey teams on:
     http://www.cs.utoronto.ca~andria/Team_List.html

     Good luck!

Subject: A summary....
Message-ID:

Several people requested a summary of information from my post regarding
"isolated" girls looking for camps and college opportunities. Believe it or not,
the following is a summary:

Camps. Rinksport was by far the favorite. The phone number is 1-800-868-7679.
Here is a sample (one of many) testamonial. . .

> 1. What are the BEST camps available this summer? Obviously, travel

> other connections. At this point in her career, she probably needs the

Dartmouth also came up alot. Here is one of the posts:
> Dartmouth has a summer camp that is for two weeks in the end of
> July. This year it would be impossible for her to get in since
> there is already a waiting list, but maybe for next year. They

Another contact for camps. . .
> I would like to suggest that your friend call the Cornell
> Women's Hockey coach, Julie Andeberhan. 607-255-6675. Julie has been

Hockey News is also a sourse of info on camps. Thier URL is
http:\\transc.com\hockey\home.htm

This post had alot of good information mixed toghether:

1. Camps.. George Crow runs an excellent two week camp at Dartmouth College,
he is the coach, but I suspect it is sold out and it does cost $1000. There
is the Blue Hills Camp run by former harvard coach John Dooley at the
Williston-Northampton school in Easthampton MA. Indeed most of the colleges
have camps.

Another option is to try out this summer for the Hockey Night in Boston
tournament on the Mid-West team. The organizer of the team is Bill Nook and
the try-outs will be in Ann Arbour June 12-18. The HNIB Boston office is at
508-682-2425. Gary Demopolous organizes the girls program. This tournament
is attended by almost all the college coaches. I work with a Canadian team
and had 9 of my players in it last summer.

Thats it so far on camps. I will post another message on colleges/scholarships
and then a final one on other miscellaneous information.

Again, thanks to all of you who contributed!!!
