I think the Princeton team was the Tiger Lillies, the other was either the
Greenwich Skating Club or Greenwich Academy. Several girls in the prep
school ranks are from the Tigerlillies and the Skating Club. Greenwich
Academy has a Division 2 prep team.
Westminster School, Simsbury CT. played Feb 8 or 9the against the Skating
club at MSG as well. Westy is a school in NEPSAC Division 1.

The Chesapeake Bay Lightning played an inter-squad game between the periods
of a Washington Capitals game at the USAir arena last season. We arranged it
through the Director of Community Relations for the Washington Capitals. If
the Boston Bruins organization has a Director of Community Relations, he or
she would be a good starting point.

THE BAUER/ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sarah Hood, Dartmouth (Pelkie, MI) - Sophomore forward Sarah Hood made
all the difference in the Big Green's 3-2, double-overtime win over
Northeastern. She sent the game into overtime with her goal at 19:39 of
the third period and then she put Dartmouth into the semi-finals with a
high shot from the bottom of the right face-off circle that sailed over the
NU keeper's shoulder. This deciding goal came at 11:01 of the second
overtime.
THE COOPER/ECAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Carisa Zaban, UNH (Glenview, IL) - For the second time this season,
rookie center Carisa Zaban claims ECAC Rookie of the Week honors. In New
Hampshire's 7-2 romp, Zaban chipped in with a goal and two assists. Her
scoring totals of 25-28-53 lead her teammates by nine points.

ECAC HONOR ROLL
Dana Antal, Cornell (Esterhazy, SASK) - A rookie forward, Antal scored
Cornell's second goal of the game and her outstanding play throughout, led
to her being chosen as one of the three stars of the game at PC.
Karen Chernisky, Princeton (Maple Heights, OH) - This junior forward
tied the game at one with UNH, to send both teams into the lockerroom with
a 1-1 tie after the first period.
Barb Gordon, Colby (Glendale, CA) - A junior forward, Gordon was involved
in both of the White Mules' goals, as she netted the team's first at 7:32
of the second period and then set up the next goal at 9:58.
Courtney King, Northeastern (Dracut, MA) - This junior forward put the
Huskies up 2-1 single-handedly, with goals at 9:46 of the second and 6:13
of the third.
Heather Reinke, UNH (Madison, WI) - The junior defenseman scored a
season-high two goals in a 7-2 victory over Princeton. She scored the
first and last goals of the game and chipped in with an assist on the
game-winner.
Danielle Solari, Brown (Rockland, MA) - A junior forward, Solari was one
of three Bears to net two goals (Katie King & Karen Emma were the other
two). Her second goal was the eventual game-winner.
Alison Wheeler, Providence (Waterbury, VT) - A junior forward, Wheeler
set up the first three goals of the game for Providence, including the
eventual game-winner.
NO SURPRISES AS TOP FOUR SEEDS ADVANCE TO SEMI-FINALS AT UNH
There were no major upsets in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Tournament last
weekend, as all four top seeds advanced. (#1) Brown, (#2) New Hampshire
and (#4) Providence won rather decisively, while the (#3) Dartmouth - (#6)
Northeastern game took 91:01 to decide.
In an exciting up-and-down the ice battle, Dartmouth got on the board
first with a power play tally by Sara Vogler. Northeastern came back
with goals in the second and the third periods by forward Courtney King,
but it wasn't enough. The Big Green's Sarah Hood stepped up and scored
the game-tying goal with just 21 seconds left in the game. Hood wasn't
finished with her heroics, however, as she also netted the game-winner at
11:01 of the second overtime period.
At Brown, the Bears jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Colby pulled within a
goal on Barb Gordon and Stacey Joslin tallies. Brown wasn't about to be
upset two years in a row though, as they came back with four more goals
to take a 7-2 victory. Katie King, Danielle Solari and Karen Emma each
chipped in with two goals, while Carly Regnier notched a shorthanded
goal.
At New Hampshire, the Wildcats and Princeton Tigers both scored a goal
apiece in the first and third periods, but it was the second stanza that
made all the difference. UNH broke out with five goals. Six different
players tallied, led by defenseman Heather Reinke's two.
At Providence, PC surged out to a commanding 3-0 lead, only to watch
Cornell score the next two goals. The Lady Friars would add two more
insurance goals, but it was Sheila Killion's goal at 00:33 of the second
period that sealed the 5-2 victory. The game was nearly even in shots,
33-28 in favor of PC.

A couple of notes:
I noticed the NEPSAC Division I scores. In Division II, New Hampton beat
Brooks in the finals (I'm not sure the score). New Hampton beat Pomfret
in a very close semifinal match.
Those of you in New England should keep an eye out in Sports Illustrated
the next couple weeks for a story on Colby's Meghan Sittler. Apparently
for advertising reasons not everyone's issues will have the story, but I
imagine New England will.

I apologize for incorrectly stating the names of the teams in my notice
of girls hockey at Madison Square Garden. The correct team was the
Princeton Tiger Lilies and not the Greenwich Tiger Lilies. I am sorry if I
offended anyone, and I also hope that my main point was not missed: That
girls were playing hockey to a full crowd at MSG ... and they loved it!
Sorry again for the confusion!
