Hi all!
Does anyone know whether they are any tournaments in Kitchener, or nearby
Kitchener, during or immediately before or after the 1997 World Championships?
I was thinking that it would be a great idea to take a team down there, play
a few games and then catch the World Championships.. all in one trip.
Any information greatly appreciated.
Alan.

Yes, I think we are in luck! The Brampton canadettes tournament is
always held on Easter weekend, and next year Easter falls on March
31st, I believe. This is right before the world championships start.
It might mean spending a whole week, but many of the US schools have
that week as vacation anyway. There is so much to do in the toronto
area - the hockey hall of fame, gretzky's restaurant, the science
museum, etc etc.
For those unfamiliar with the Brampton tournament, it's the world's
largest tournament, held at 10+ rinks in the Brampton area. (302
teams in 1996!) There are divisions for all age groups and
levels of play, even novice. 1997 will be it's 30th year.
In 1996, the contact for the tournament was:
Paul Driver
13 Banting Cres.
Brampton, ON Canada
L6Y 2M1
The cost was $400 CN or $325 US. Three games guaranteed, they are 10
minute periods, stop time.

Alan Chim asked about whether it would be possible to play in a nearby
tournament around the time of the 97 Worlds in Kitchener.
Joy mentioned the Brampton tournament, the weekend before the worlds.
I believe Hamilton will hold a tournament for Senior Recreational (20&over)
the next weekend (during the playoffs of the worlds). The contact for that
tournament would be my mother,
Bev Mallory,

Actually, I was so excited and I had a hard finding anyone else who
would be excited too! My husband already said it was fine for me to
go, but he didn't want to go, so I'm taking a friend.
