Reply to Cynthia Pelak regarding posters. Yes USA Hockey does have
posters. Actually, they are using the poster we have used in
Minnesota for years from when one of our youth teams was in Sports
Illustrated for Kids. The poster is an absolutely beautiful
professional picture of youth girls (12 & under) doing a "stop" with
the ice flying up in front of them. The photographer for SI for Kids
took it. He gave us permission to use it for recruiting.
Doug Palazzari of USA Hockey has the posters and his telephone # is:

ECAC Women's Hockey Release #9, January 29, 1996
THE BAUER/ECAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Meaghan Sittler, Colby College (Buffalo, NY) - Sophomore Meaghan Sittler
produced some of the biggest three-game totals of the season, recording 10
goals and 10 assists in three victories. Two of the wins helped propel
Colby to fifth place in the ECAC standings. She recorded three consecutive
hat tricks with three goals and three assists against both Bowdoin and
Cornell and then came back with four goals and four assists against St.
Lawrence. She had the game-winning goal in each game.
THE COOPER/ECAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Erin Magee, Boston College (Troy, NY) - The freshman center claims the
rookie award for the third time this season after figuring in five of her
team's eight goals last week. In a 5-2 win over Middlebury she registered
her fourth hat trick of the season, including the game-winner, and she also
added two goals against Dartmouth. She continues to lead the team in
scoring.
ECAC HONOR ROLL
Dana Antal, Cornell (Esterhazy, SASK) - A freshman left wing, Antal
scored two goals versus Colby, one a PPG.
Marcie Deering, Brown (Madoc, ONT) - Deering played consistently all
weekend, scoring two goals and two assists. The two goals and one of her
assists came against the usually stingy U.S. Select Team.
Barb Gordon, Colby (Glendale, CA) - The junior wing had almost as
impressive totals as Sittler (ECAC POW), recording nine goals and nine
assists. She netted five goals in victory over St. Lawrence.
Mara McAdams, Yale (Chicago, IL) - The senior forward notched a hat trick
in a 6-2 win over Wesleyan.
A.J. Mleczko, Harvard (New Canaan, CT) - The junior forward scored two
goals and added an assist versus Yale.
Michele Selzer, St. Lawrence (W. Hempsted, NY) - The senior forward
netted three goals and added an assist versus Colby.
Danielle Solari, Brown (Rockland, MA) - A junior center, Solari made the
difference in the first annual Mayor's Cup game against Providence, as she
had an assist and scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 victory. She also
scored a goal against the U.S. Select Team.
Dina Solimini, New Hampshire (S. Weymouth, MA) - The Wildcats' senior
keeper, Solimini etched her name into the UNH record books last weekend,
recording two victories. She is now the all-time minutes played leader and
single season shutout leader with six.
Carisa Zaban, New Hampshire (Glenview, IL) - A rookie center, Zaban
scored her fifth game-winning goal of the season as one of two tallies
against St. Lawrence and then added an assist against Cornell.
UNH, BROWN REMAIN UNDEFEATED; Colby Makes Its Move
The New Hampshire Wildcats and Brown Bears kept their records unblemished
last week, as UNH posted two wins to surge further ahead of the pack, and
Brown downed Providence to move ahead of Northeastern and into a
second-place tie with Dartmouth. In the process, Wildcats' Tricia Dunn
became the 20th player in UNH history to register 100 points and keeper
Dina Solimini held on for a 4-0 shutout of Cornell to take the UNH
single-season record of six shutouts. Brown's 4-3 victory over PC went
down in the record books as the first annual Mayor's Cup game - a game in
which a trophy will be sought after each year for city bragging rights.
The Dartmouth Big Green collected its two points by downing Boston College,
5-3. Coincidentally, the two second-place teams (Dartmouth & Brown) tied
each other 2-2 in a non-league game. Colby has been on fire, winning its
last five games. The White Mules moved from eighth to fifth place in
league standings after defeating Cornell and St. Lawrence. Before losing
to Colby, Cornell had put together a four-game winning streak. The U.S.
Select Team, basically a former ECAC All-Stars team, collected three big
wins last week, downing Harvard, Northeastern and Brown.

Hi, I posted a few weeks ago regarding our brand new club team at
Mt.Holyoke College in MA. We had a meeting last night to discuss
finances. We were all charged $50 in dues which will mainly go towards
ice time and publicity for other fund raisers. However, the rink rules
state that we cannot practice with pucks unless we all have helmets. We
have been practicing with tennis balls!
We have a very slim chance of getting funds from our Student
Government Association and our athletic dept. considers us too much of an
insurance risk. It there are any teams out there who would be willing to
donate old helmets or equipment of any kind, I would really appreciate
it! Also, if anyone knows of any women's organizations or hockey
organizations who give grants to new teams, that would be a big help
too. Please email me directly if you have any information. Thankyou!

I think a promotional poster would be a great idea. I did spot an incredible
poster this past summer of Manon Rheaume in rollerblades in goal for the New
Jersey Rock-and-Rollers with a very catchy caption (that I can't quite
remember), but I think it was produced for Kryptonite roller hockey wheels and
I saw it on the wall in a store that sells rollerblades--could not convince
the store-owners to give me their copy. Has anyone else seen it? Maybe it
could be adapted by USA Hockey to promote women's ice hockey. Does anyone
know if USA Hockey has an e-mail address to which a load of mail could be
directed??

Hi, I just jumped into the Web to see if I could find an e-mail address.
In my quick search I didn't find one but I did fine their "official" web
page! The Address is:
http://www.inovatec.com/usahock/
It's not much. They really could spice it up and use it as a great resourse.
