I am a 14 year old girl playing on a "boys" team. I should be a bantam but
have decided to play a level up at the midget level considering that I will
be a sophmore in High School next year and will be trying out for my high
school team. I have been playing with boys and only boys since I was five
years old. I have been playing goalie since I was 6 and have enjoyed that
position. My hair is about shoulder length and the guys on the other teams
know that I am a girl because I don't put my hair up. I would never try to
hide my hair. Being a girl is no excuse for getting hit, playing bad hockey,
or playing good hockey. At the end of the game when I go to shake the other
teams' hands most of them don't even care that I am a girl. But if it gets
to the point where they are shouting out things like "girls' shouldn't play
hockey" than I just use all that negative energy toward the game and save
every shot that they shoot at me. I would tell your daughter to keep playing
with her hair down. If she hits them then the other boys would probably be
very embarrassed. Their other team mates would make fun of them and that's
what they deserve for making fun of your daughter.

Saturday, Dec. 7 the University of New Hampshire beat Northeastern 4-1 in a
ECAC game. This upsets NU's previous rank as #1 in the league and puts
UNH in the top position. UNH faces off against Harvard on Sunday.

UNH kept its unbeaten string in ECAC play alive by defeating Northeastern 4-1
at Northeastern. What is unusual about these victories is that UNH is the
only school in ECAC play that uses 4 lines almost every game.

The Clarkson Edge beat St. Michael's College in our first two home games
(ever) this weekend. Friday's game ended with a score of 4-1 and
Saturday's game was 2-1.

The highlight of the weekend was when our goalie, Jenn Purificato, stuck
to the ice after a save early in the third period. Two of our players
prying her pads with their sticks and the two officials kicking and
pulling were finally able to get her off the ice. We have it all on tape.

Our thanks to the many people inolved at Clarkson: our coaches, Guy
Arnold (arena director), Jerry Deon (Knights equipment manager), WCKN
(Clarkson's tv station), the arena staff, and all of the students,
faculty, staff, and parents that came to support us.

We are provided with excellent ice time for games as well as operators for
the big scoreboard. Jerry does a great job sharpening our skates, and
WCKN televised both games live with announcers.

These people continue to prove that Clarkson University's Cheel Arena is
the coolest place in college hockey!
