I am trying to get together a complete list of girls/womens programs in
the US and Canada with e-mail adresses and web site URLs if applicable.
Not a small task as I think Andria Hunter has been trying to do the same
but I can tell there are a lot missing.

I am going to post a page with this information on the Polar Bears web
site.

Would anyone with info that I can post please froward it to me.

Thanks

I am happy to announce that this week marked a new era for the women of
Houston TX. The Aerodrome in Sugarland has started a women's-only
drop-in. Last night was the first time for many of us to play in a
women's only game. We had 14 women show up last night, including two
goalies. We are hoping to make a good enough showing this month that
the program will be continued on a permanent basis.

We are also discussing the possibility of forming a *team*. Since we
have several beginners, we would definitely be considered recreational.
Are there any women's teams close enough for a week-end trip for us to
play? Obviously, we are willing to drive a good distance (or fly if the
fares are cheap).

This may not sound like a women in hockey thing, but by the end, it
sort of will be... I am very confused about the timing of the winter
olympics, or is it the Olympics in general? There was Albertville
(and Barcelona) in '92, so then there was Lillehammer(sp.?) in '94. Ok, why is that?
Then the next Winter Games are '98 Nagano. So, when will the next
winter olympics after Nagano be? And what is the theory behind the
timing of the games, I've been trying to figure this one out. So
does this mean, with Sydney in 2000, that there will be winter games
in that year also, thus starting the new cycle w/ summer games occuring
two years later?

My point about the winter Olympics was concerning the women's
national team. (yeah, i finally get on subject!) I have read
articles that have made it sound like Team USA's women's team has
already been picked for '98. Is this true? Why would they choose
teams so far in advance (well, maybe a year and a half) when there
were teams and individuals who did not qualify to compete in Atlanta
until almost a month before it began.

I am obviously confused about how these things work, I think I may
have the timing of the games figured though. But how about the US
women's team- what is up with that?

Anything would help!
Heather
