Hi there,

I just noticed a women's roller hockey article on the web. It's called
"First Ladies of Michigan Roller Hockey." It is a feature article by
the "Hockey Weekly Magazine."
   http://www.amateurhockey.com/hockey_weekly/article1.html

It has lots of pictures and a long write-up. I've added a link to this
page from my "Women's Roller Hockey" web page.

I'll be playing in the North American Roller Hockey Championship
(NARCh) in Chicago from August 22-25, so I'll be sure to report the
results to this mailing list when I get back. Last year the following
10 teams competed at NARCh, but I'm not sure how many teams will be
competing this year.

 Group A
   TEAM LOCATION
San Diego Seahawks San Diego, CA
   Toronto Tornadoes Toronto, ON
   Austin Storm Austin, TX
   Fast Forward Madison, WI
   MedalCross Checkers Chicago, IL

  Group B
   TEAM LOCATION
   AKS She Devils Anaheim, CA
   Chicks With Sticks Chicago, IL
   Detroit Blades Detroit, MI
   Toronto Rockets Toronto, ON
   Tour Bandits St.Louis, MO

Cheers!

Andria

Folks, it's getting brutal on the mailing lists. Many of you have
completely forgotten your netiquette, if you ever knew it.

The worst violation is that when you include a message in a reply,
you're including THE ENTIRE BLOODY MESSAGE. This is a big no-no, a huge
waste of resources, and makes it impossible to SEE WHAT YOU WROTE.

Don't do this -- take an extra ten seconds and edit your messages!
Include only the minimum amount of text necessary for context. DON'T
INCLUDE THE WHOLE THING.

We've written an entire document on how to write good postings to these
mail lists. Many of you, bluntly, need to read it immediately. PLEASE
do so. you can get it from the web site
, or by sending email to
.

Stop the lazy postings -- they hurt the list, and hurt the ability for
people to see what you're saying. If you're going to say something,
doesn't it make sense to try to make it something people want to read?
>From the state of many of the postings on these lists right now, the
answer seems to be no.

Don't turn these lists into write-only havens of sloppy, lazy messages.
Save that for USENET.

I'm going to start cracking down on this a lot more heavily. Please
don't make me start griping at you privately, okay? Take the hint
before I have to single people out....

Yours for tight prose and focussed thinking...

Just as an FYI -- today we made some significant changes to the
networking here at Plaidworks, and the connection to my provider. These
changes were necessary both to work with changes to my provider made
and to get around some "dead" areas that were caused by some obscure
routing errors. We had some users out there who could, for instance,
get mail from plaidworks, but were unable to send mail to us. We also
had the mail servers shut down for a few hours to minimize the chances
of glitches.

That should now be fixed. All of the network addresses here had to be
changed, and the DNS entries changed, and that meant that for a few
hours, most of you probably couldn't reach us while the changes
propogated. Nothing should have bounced (although I wouldn't bet on
it), it should only have sat until the changes showed up and your
server could talk to us again.

Everything should be pretty much back to normal -- if you couldn't
reach the web site earlier today, it should be fine. If you continue
having problems reaching us via email or accessing the web sites past
Noon saturday, let me know so I can start debugging the problem.

I expect a few short term (less than 20 minute) outages over the
weekend as I re-do some of the cabling here at Plaidworks, but they
should be invisible unless you're actually accessing the site at the
time I unplug the cables. That should be finished by the end of the
weekend.

You should not have to re-send any mail, unless you got a bounce message.

If you run into problems, please let me know ASAP. Things seem to be
working fine, but if you find a glitch I don't see, I need to know
about it.

Thanks.

Chuq
