I just wanted to drop a line to let you know that we are approaching hockey
season here in the lower mainland (British Columbia, Canada) and if you know
of anyone moving here or who plays hockey and is presently not "carded" for
a specific team, our team is looking for players this upcoming season.

Not to sound like an ad, but our tryouts begin at the end of this month
(August) and our team is looking for players who preferably have some hockey
experience, as we are in the Senior AA division. The only other requirement
is you must be 18 years old or more. We are a competitive team however we
do enjoy our "fun" times together. We usually go to two tournaments per
season, one in Kamloops or Burnaby, BC in November and one at the end of the
season in Seattle, Washington in April. I, personally, have a whole lot of
pride in our team and I look forward to our season each year with much
anxiety. Our team, though, it changes through yearly tryouts, is 5 years
old and I am one of the veterans.

If you know of anyone looking for a team or you are interested in coming
out, please feel free to contact me or our coach, Frank Schulz, via this
e-mail address. I am confident that if you check us out, you will want to stay.

Happy hockey to everyone as a new season draws near!

Tammy Schulz

I have seen from time to time, enquiries as to whether there is a University
team here in the Lower Mainland in British Columbia Canada.

Just wanted to let you know that there is a team called the UBC
Thunderbirds, who are presently in the process of gaining varsity status for
their highly skilled university team. They have good ice times, good rates,
and they have moved up quickly in the divisions of our league. They have
tryouts each year and they have extremely qualified coaches who have built a
solid Senior team, probably to play at the elite level this upcoming season.

I hope this has opened some doors for those of you who have inquired and if
you wish to contact the coach of the TBirds, you can E-Mail Laura Bennion at
unixg.ubc.ca
