I am a 35 year old female who is interested in learning how to skate and play
ice hockey and have read about Hockey America, which operates a school for
adult beginners.  Has anyone attended this school? It's pretty expensive and
I want to make sure it's worth it. Thanks.

(Apologies to people outside the San Francisco CA area for the world-wide post)

The Oakland-Berkeley Junior Hockey Club is the host club for a 10-and-under
girls' hockey team that is now getting under way. Girls from all over the
Bay Area and Central Valley are invited to join.

Many of the members of this team are already skating on Boys' Squirt and
Mite teams in Nor-Cal, and the schedule is organized to allow and encourage
their continued participation on their regular teams. Participants don't
have to be skating on an existing team, and girls participating in in-house
programs are welcome too.

The team has secured ice for two practices per month, at the newly-opened
Oakland U. S. Ice Arena. Games will be scheduled about once per month, most
likely against other Nor-Cal teams. The game schedule has not been set yet.
The team will be registered with USA Hockey, and USA Hockey rules will be
followed.

There are still openings on this team. If you are interested, please contact
the Oakland-Berkeley JHC at 510-869-3890.
