Perhaps you could have some sort of a one-day clinic to introduce the
sport to new players (and as a refresher for the returning players).
This is what the Scarborough Girls' Hockey League does at the beginning
of each season to spark some interest and to attract new players.  They
had clinics for lots of different skill levels so that the newer
players wouldn't get intimidated or discouraged.  The focus was on
having fun, and it's a great opportunity for girls to find out how
great the sport really is, without having to commit.  I'm not sure how
you would go about promoting such an event, and I'm not sure that it
would help too much since it seems that some of the girls have left
because of Ringette, but it might be a start.  They had some of the
members on the National team leading the clinics, so that may have been
appealing to the girls too.
