Dorene,
Regarding what you say about schools having boys' ice sports, they have
to also have to have a girls' team: Are the girls allowed to play on the
boys' team, even if there is a girls' team provided? The level of girls'
hockey is usually, if not always, below that of the boys', so if a girl
has demonstrated the talent to play on the boys' team, is she allowed?
This is a question I have always wondered, and especially at the college
level would like to know, if anyone else knows about the college.

Women's hockey fans were treated to two great games at Baker Rink this
weekend, with Princeton playing Brown and Providence and both games
coming down to the last 10 seconds.
Brown beat Princeton, 4-3 in overtime, with a goal with 0:05 left. The
game-winner was a rebound in front. Liz Hill played tremendously in goal
for Princeton, making over 30 saves and keeping the otherwise overmatched
Tigers in the game. (Mandy Pfeiffer helped out as well, scoring three
goals). Overall, Brown was too much -- they had three very good lines to
Princeton's two. The Bears' top line of Katie King, Danielle Solari and
Nan Gorton is outstanding, and the next two lines are good as well. Karen
Emma (transfer from BC) leads the second line and created some chances
with her speed and skills. Becky Kellar (who I think played on Brown's
first line last year) centered the third line.
Not only did Brown have more players, with the exception of Princeton's
Ali Coughlin they had a big size advantage as well, which helped them in
what was a very physical game.
Princeton matched up better against Providence in what was a very even
game. Princeton won, 5-4, thanks to Pfeiffer's goal with 0:10 left in
regulation. It was Pfeiffer's second goal of the game -- she has been
playing tremendously since Kathy Issel graduated last year. She should be
in the running for first-team all-ECAC. Providence had tremendous team
speed, but didn't seem to have finishers as good as Pfeiffer, Coughlin or
Karen Chernisky. The game also featured some of the best defenders in
college hockey (a position that seems to be lacking this year) in
Princeton's Vicki Urbas and Providence's Karen McCabe and Alana Blahoski.
